Nerf Chronograph
Objectives
- Determine Nerf Gun Rate of Fire and Dart Speed
- Learn Interrupts
- Build a quick prototype
- Integrate Arduino with PC
- Design an enclosure in SolidWorks with perfect spacing for photo-gates that is compatible with Nerf barrel attachments
- Build IR photo-gates from IR LED and IR Photo-transistors and test on breadboard
- Print the enclosure, and test the part fit - iterate if required
- Attach electronics to enclosure and test the code with simple serial output
- Complete final assembly and write a UI with Processing
- Obtained desired results for FPS reading (measured up to 130fps)
- Learned how to use interrupts with Arduino for precise timing
- An updated electronics enclosure with integrated LCD or OLED Display and battery would allow for use during battle
- Bluetooth option and a phone app would be much more user friendly
