ProjectAssembly, Research
This bike was constructed from a kit with my father when I was in the 11th grade. The bike utilizes a simple two stroke engine that is able to propel it up to 33MPH. There are a lot of manufacturing flaws on these engine kits that were realized during the initial bit of riding (quite a few parts had to be replaced). This assembly taught me a lot about engines and researching the kit and bike to choose took a great deal of time. The full setup was achieved for under $400, much cheaper than a comparable electric bike was priced at the time. In the future we hope to replace the brakes at the least, but more likely the entire bike entirely. It is more than likely that the next build will either be electric or 4 stroke to reduce the environmental impact and improve efficiency, I will however say that it is probably one of the most fun things you can ride. |
